Meeting the 8:30 am Seaplane from Vancouver Airport Harbour January at Silva Bay, Gabriola Island. Nice calm morning with a bit of frost. Silva Bay is located on the southern end of Gabriola Island, approximately a 15 minute drive from the north end and ferries. Gabriola Island is located in the Strait of Georgia, between Vancouver Island and the mainland of BC, approximately 5 km (3 miles) east of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island. Gabriola is easily reached by a 20 minute ferry ride from downtown Nanaimo, or by floatplane from Vancouver.
